Hello Nantucket Soccer Spring Travel ’20 Families,

Trusting you all are safe, healthy and staying occupied.

It is with a saddened heart and mixed emotions that the Nantucket Soccer Club is announcing the cancellation of our Spring Travel ’20 Season.  *Please note this cancellation still provides options for soccer programming such as tryouts, training, clinics, skills competitions, intratown/club friendly games, friendlies against other towns/clubs; pending national, state and local agencies relaxing and or removing current guidelines.*

On Mon. 4/27 the South Coast Soccer League (SCSL) held a conference call to discuss our season, and the extension of Gov. Bakers stay-at-home order through May 18th, during this call we discussed our playing options.  Over the past weeks it had become increasingly apparent and was obvious to me that the season was in jeopardy.  The list of concerns included, towns losing their playing fields due to school closures, a heightened concern about long distance travel, including boat & bus travel, as well as the many unknowns related to the State of MA Assemblage Orders; these were some of the factors that lead us to make this tough decision.

For MA Youth Soccer, the SCSL and the Nantucket Soccer Club, the primary concern for all of us is the safety of our players and families.  Given our circumstances I felt even more responsibility to the Island of Nantucket in being thoughtful in doing all we can as a soccer club to keep our community safe and healthy.

In the coming days I will be conferencing with the Nantucket Soccer Club board of directors to discuss and then deliver options to you as it relates to refunds & credits, vs expenditures.  I ask for your patience during this time as we deal with this unplanned circumstance, please be on the look out for my next email.

In the mean time, please stay well.

      Richard  P. Brannigan II
